Pueo Ceremonial Drum
Pueo drum is made with 1/2 of a canteen gourd. The skin is goat skin onto which I have drawn the pueo. The Pueo is the Hawaiian owl, not the word owl in Hawaiian. It is very sacred and endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. This drum is 9 inches wide and 2 inches deep. It comes with a beautifully woodburned stick with Hawaiian designs on it.
Ipu heke are two gourds joined with a puka (hole) at the top. They are used in hula as a drum for keeping the beat of the chant. The "voice" of these Hawaiian grown gourds is very resonant and melodious. I have a small selection of these at any given time. They run from $350-$500 each.
